About Dr. Joy Chen
Dr. Joy Chen grew up in Vancouver and pursued a career in oral and maxillofacial surgery, a field that offers a unique blend of medicine and dentistry. Her fascination with the field and desire to positively impact people’s quality of life drives the passion behind her work.
Dr. Chen sought a practice that offered a large scope of procedures to address every patient’s needs in a collaborative and welcoming environment, which she sees as a key component to providing high-quality care. Knowing that anxiety is a natural part of any surgery, Dr. Chen approaches each unique case with empathy and compassion, prioritizing the comfort and well-being of every patient. Her thorough explanations and personalized approach put patients at ease.

Hobbies & Interests
Outside of work, Dr. Chen enjoys spending time with her family, cooking and experimenting with new recipes, and traveling.
Education & Residency
Dr. Chen earned her Doctor of Dental Medicine degree from the University of British Columbia in 2014. After that, she pursued her medical degree and graduated from Columbia University’s College of Physicians and Surgeons in 2017. In 2020, she completed her oral and maxillofacial surgery residency at New York Presbyterian Hospital and Columbia University’s Medical Center.

Dr. Chen is certified by the American Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons as well as the American Board of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons.
